In this article you will learn how to configure Shift4 on a Quest Tablet.
Things you will need.
- The latest version of Shift4 UTG which can be found here: https://www.shift4.com/downloads/utg2setup.exe
- The locations Serial Number
- The locations zip code.
- A open slot to use (For best practice the slot number should match up to the Locations->Stations Number)
First you will need to install the latest version of UTG and run Tune Up (which should automatically open up after you install)
In the Express tab you will need to fill out the following boxes.
- Serial: This will be the locations serial number provided by Shift4
- Slot: This slot number should typically match the Locations -> Stations list for the position its in.
- Host Address: This is typically the loop back IP of 127.0.0.1 but use your local dealers info that you type in for normal Shift4 installs if not using 127.0.0.1
- Location: This is the zip code for the location.
*Note* The numbers in the picture are used as an example. Do not copy.
After you have filled out the Express tab you can move on to the API Interfaces tab.
When on the Express tab hit "Add" and select TCP/IP just like you would with installing it on a terminal.
In the Express tab you will need to fill out the Host Address and Port fields at minimum.
- Host Address: This typically be the loop back as well 127.0.0.1 but use your local dealers info as you would normally do on a Shift4 install for this field.
- Port: The Port should be 17476
*Note* The numbers in the picture below are used as an example.
After this step you can save and launch Stand Alone.
Once Stand Alone looks as follows (Screen Shot below). You can move into the steps needed in Focus.
For the last step you will need to log into Setup on Focus and Navigate to Location -> Stations. Once there you will need to highlight the station you're working on and select the EMV Options tab. Now that you are in the EMV Options tab you will need to find the section called Reader Type and check the box saying "Augusta Reader" (screen shot below).
After this you've completed the steps needed to get a Quest Tablet up and going with Shift4.
Things to note:
- Make sure you've already created a package to take EMV Credit Card Payments.
- Confirm stand alone or the Shift4 service is running before testing.
- When taking payment the chip should be facing AWAY from the device (ie: When putting the credit card into the device you the user should be looking at the mag strip)
- If you get a DECRYPT Error that means you faced the chip the incorrect way.
