Importing Accounts to Customer Database
Users can import accounts from a csv file by turning it into a .txt file. The steps to import are listed below.
Restrictions
The 'csv' file will need to be converted to a 'txt' file.
Note: The customer.txt created below must be saved in the Focus folder.
Process to Import Accounts
Step 1: Format the provided .csv file
- Openthe.CSVfile
- Organize the data according to the import window
- Format the data
- Insert a column in column A
- Enter "aaba" in all cells in column A
- Enter "bbab" in the last column
- Save File as 'customer.csv' in the Focus folder
- Navigate to the Focus Folder
- Right click on 'customer.csv' and open in 'Notepad'
- Select Edit>Replace and enter the following text before selecting 'Replace All':
- Find what: aaba,
- Replace with: "
- Select Edit > Replace and enter the following text before selecting 'ReplaceAll':
- Find what: ,bbab
- Replace with: "
- Select Edit > Replace and enter the following text before selecting 'ReplaceAll':
- Find what: ,
- Replace with: ","
- When finished, the document should look similar to the image below:
- Save file as 'customer.txt' in the Focus Folder
Step 2: Import Accounts into Focus
- Navigate to Customers > Accounts
- Select Tools > Import
- Make sure the Included Fields match the fields in your import file created above and are in the same order
- Select OK
- Select 'Yes' when prompted to "Import Accounts"
- Select Save and Close
